Short Profile Klaus Plate can draw on a wide range of experience in Science- and Technology Park and Incubator development and management, the creation of Areas of Innovation, the establishment of science based clusters, cluster management and cluster organization, the development of international collaboration and networking between Science- and Technology Parks and clusters fostering open innovation and international co-incubation. Klaus Plate served as CEO of the Technologiepark Heidelberg GmbH ( Heidelberg Technology Park Ltd.), the first Biopark in Germany, from 1994 to March 2010. From April to December 2010 he was Senior Advisor of the Heidelberg Technology Park. From 1973 until 2007 Klaus Plate served in the Municipal Government of the City of Heidelberg, Germany. He was Head of the Legal Department and since 1985 Director of General Administration and Economic Development (COO). In this time he also was Managing Director of the HWE Heidelberger Wirtschaftsentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (Heidelberg Economic Development Corporation Ltd.) . He is Co-Founder and Head of the Steinbeis Consulting Center : Science-Education-Business- Development SEBD in Heidelberg and is running his own business named Klaus Plate Consulting.. Klaus Plate served as International President from 2000 to 2002 of the International Association of Science- and Technology Parks (IASP), headquartered in Malaga, Spain. He was Member of the Steering Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park , Beijing, China, from 2000 to 2002; Member of the Board of the Council of Biotechnology Center , Biotechnology Industry Organisation (BIO), Washington DC, USA until 2008; Member of the Steering Group of the Council of European BioRegions (CEBR), Brussels, Belgium, until 2011. He is Member of the Jury of the “Best Science Based Incubator Award”, the globally leading incubator award , The Technopolicy Network, The Hague, The Netherlands. Klaus Plate is member of the SPICE Group network since 1999
