Short ProfileEng. Hasan Omar - Co-Founder and CEO of Glow Innovations. He was the CEO of the Palestinian Business and Innovation Center, and a founding executive member of the first ICT incubator in Palestine in 2004, Mr. Omar has contributed greatly to the infrastructure of this establishment in Palestine.
Drawing from his extensive experience and knowledge in entrepreneurship and innovation, providing technical, business, and marketing advisory and coaching services to hundreds of ICT high-growth start-ups and MSMEs, Mr. Omar draws on his impressive list of accredited skills, which includes being a Certified Trainer in Business Incubation Management by the World Bank, his expertise in networking architecture and management, as well as being a MedIbtikar Innovation Expert to holistically contribute and support entrepreneurial projects for inception to graduation in the MENA.
He recently founded the Palestine Network of Mentors and the Network of Entrepreneurship Ambassadors and continues to mentor and aid in business development for more than 500 projects and startups. He assessed more than 1000 business ideas, and delivered more than 700 workshops, training seminars and events over the past ten years attended by thousands of fresh graduates and entrepreneurs. Mr. Omar continues to forge strategic partnerships and international networks for the sake of innovation, entrepreneurship, development and economy, of which he publishes articles about, all the while consulting with donors and organizations locally and internationally on economy and ICT development through innovation and SMEs, as well as establishing and heading many national committees, including the Palestine Innovation Initiative (Pi2), and sits on the board of directors in various organizations, including the ISOC-Palestine Chapter as its’ treasurer and the MENA Incubators Network as a co-founder.
Moving forward, Mr. Omar established the Palestinian Business and Innovation Centre in Ramallah with a branch in Gaza. It is a full member in the European Business and Innovation Centers Network (EBN), where he is CEO, in June of 2012. Following in the spirit of progression, the Palestine BIC moves away from traditional physical technology incubator to accelerated incubation and commercialization of innovative startups in West Bank and Gaza.
His work in designing, fundraising for and managing many programs including Economic Recovery in the Gaza Strip funded by DANIDA through Oxfam-GB, Intilaq and Intaliq funded by USAID through IYF, DEEP funded by the IDB through UNDP/PAPP, TeamStart with University of Warwick, the Mobile Innovations (MADI) funded by Paltel Group, Digital Arabic Content with ESCWA, the annual Business Plan Contest with Intel, MedGeneration - Mobilization of Economic Diasporas for the Mediterranean Countries Development in partnership with ANIMA and ENPI and funded by the EU and many others, continues to give birth to various innovation platforms and opportunities for upcoming entrepreneurs while working with big names such as the World Bank, CISCO, Microsoft, Google, EIB and more.
Mr. Omar holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from the Jordan University of Science & Technology, Jordan, since 1995. He also holds a Master Degree in International Cooperation & Development from Bethlehem University, and is a member of many professional engineering organizations worldwide.
